The responsibility of the Finance and Stewardship Team is to manage and supervise all monies of the church. Read on to learn more.
Ministry Responsibilities
The Finance & Stewardship team handles budget development and execution of funds. Additionally, they assist the membership in stewarding their time, talents, and treasure, through pledge campaigns, and year-round stewardship events.
We follow the UCC's guidance on the role of Finance & Stewardship within the church:
God's Ownership: The UCC emphasizes that all things, including our time, talents, and resources, ultimately belong to God, and we are stewards, not owners, of these gifts.
Generous Giving: Stewardship involves freely giving of our time, talents, and treasure to support the church's mission and ministry, recognizing that these gifts are a way to serve God and others.
Responsible Use: Stewardship also entails using our resources wisely and responsibly, ensuring they are used for the good of the church and the world, reflecting the values of justice and compassion.
Time
Volunteering time for church activities, serving on committees, or engaging in outreach and mission work.
Examples: Volunteering for the Lesotho food packing event, Gay Pride events, and the Feeding Friends Food Pantry.
Talents
Using skills and abilities to contribute to the church's ministries, such as teaching, leading worship, or providing technical support.
Examples: Joining in the choir, volunteering for the sound stage and/or liturgy, and the communications team producing social media and website content.
Treasures
Giving generously to support the church financially, as well as donating resources to support charitable causes and social justice initiatives.
Examples: Making a pledge to the church or giving a one-time donation to our general fund and/or any specific event.
