sa·lon [suh-lon] - in the Herbster Community Room, 10:30am, Sunday mornings.
– a throwback from earlier days in Europe when friends gathered to talk, laugh and seek a more meaningful experience of living through the wisdom of art, literature, science, politics, ethics, etc. The Salon is a hospitable space for those who prefer a more human-centered approach to life. We won’t be praying prayers. We won’t be singing hymns. But, we will be exploring and celebrating that “spark” which inspires beauty and ignites passions.
The Salon is perfect for those who want to be in community with others of goodwill and who care deeply about working with others to make the world a better place!

In the Salon, a Presenter presents a topic to discuss by way of a film clip, a talk, or a multi media presentation.
After the presentation is received, the group gathers together to connect the topic to their lives, share opinions, and probe deeper meanings. Through guided discussion, members of the circle share some of the their hopes and gleanings with the group about the topic.
The group then moves into some silent time, followed by an opportunity to share your concerns and/or joys briefly (in a sentence of two) with the group. The Salon concludes with a Send Out from the Moderator.
Salon participants are welcome to join in any of Harmony Creek’s fellowship or justice events. Click on “Ministry” under the tool bar to read more about ways you can engage.

Joining us for the first time?
Whoever you are, wherever you are on the journey, you are welcome here.
What is the Salon?
The Salon is not a Christian worship service, but is a hospitable space for those who prefer a more human centered approach to life and living.
We want everyone to participate in the way that feels right to you. We also have developed a few “rules of the road” to keep the Salon open, engaging, tolerant, and a place where everyone can feel welcomed.
It’s safe here. We don’t simply tolerate our differences, we respect our differences, not only age, race, gender, ability, and orientation, but also politics and worldviews.
So, we will practice kindness in our time together, in the hopes of discovering something new in different viewpoints. A moderator will facilitate each week, guiding the discussion and keeping an eye on the clock.
Plan to join us with the rest of the Harmony Creek community for coffee and conversation in the Fellowship Hall after the Salon.
This gathering is
• Supported by our children’s program, The Great Adventure, for those fifth grade and younger!
• Invited to enjoy a time of refreshments and getting to know one another in our Fellowship Hall after the gathering ends.
• Asked to work together to do justice, wage peace, and be a part of making the world a better place.
