“They gave offerings of whatever they could . . . This was totally spontaneous . . . Their giving simply flowed out of the purposes of God working in their lives.” (II Corinthians 8:4- 5 The Message)
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God”s varied grace.” (1 Peter 4:10)
Our Stewardship and Financial Development Ministry team assists the membership in stewarding their time, talents, and treasure, through pledge campaigns, year-round stewardship events including education about Memorial Funds, wills, gifts and endowments, and by coordinating all of the church’s fundraising efforts.
Why this work is important
Stewardship is caring for the things we care about! There are many ways we do this. Giving of our time is essential if we are to work for good in the world. Giving of our talents helps us work in a focused and effective manner. And giving of our treasure enables us to do things that would otherwise be out of reach. Jesus is well-schooled in the transformative generosity of God and in the conviction that if you share your bread with your neighbor, the world will be made new.Generosity isn’t something you just think about, it’s something you do. The real work of stewardship is the work of generosity in the spirit of Jesus. Our job is discernment of the ways in which all of us, including the church, already have ”far more than all we can ask or imagine”. Give with us.
